This intermediate-level certification introduces you to the key wine regions of Spain, allowing you to understand the culture, history and winemaking fundamentals behind 23 of the most influential Spanish DOs and DOCas. Learn what makes Spanish wines so unique by diving into the viticultural and vinification techniques and grape varieties behind the most important Spanish wine styles. You will see Spanish wine through a cultural lens, being able to put it into context within history, culture, geography, geology and key grape varieties. The comprehensive course structure includes a 90-page study manual, interactive learning resources and expert instructors to guide you through a sensory adventure across Spain. Spanish Wine Essentials is more than a course; it's a prelude to a lifelong romance with Spanish wines and a stepping-stone to the internationally revered Spanish Wine Scholar® Certification Program. Dates: April 18 via Zoom and In Person 6pm-9pm June 1 via Zoom and In Person 11am-4pm (exam that day). We will also offer a Wine Pairing Session with a menu prepared by Perry Culinary Services highlighting some of the regions and wines. Format Course will be offered in person and LIVE via Zoom. You can choose how you attend. Zoom students will receive a link for the stream. Your camera will have to be enabled. Exam The course includes a 50-question multiple-choice exam. We can accommodate to the exam date and place with at least 2-week notification. Otherwise, there is a rescheduling fee assessed by Wine Scholar Guild. *Installment plans available.
