You will learn about each one of the appellations, varietals and all that the country has to offer in the wine kingdom including its rich history and tradition. The Spanish Wine Scholar study and certification program confers a post-nominal to wine professionals and enthusiasts who successfully pass the certification exam (Ex: John Smith, SWS). Format This is a hybrid course. We will meet over 20 hours of classroom instruction with tutored tasting taught by Yellymary Montalvo, SWS with Honors and WSET Certified Educator. Ths is an intense but rewarding program. We recommend students to prepare before class and understand the time commitment. We will be here to guide you all the way but we need for you to also be committed to the program. This is an intense version of the course with 4 days intensive. Course dates: August 8 via Zoom and in person 6pm-9pm. Then August 9-11, 11am-5pm. If opting for Zoom, your camera needs to be enabled. The last session is offered only live and we will go over tasting, review, and exam. Light appetizers will be offered. We can accommodate to exam date and place with at least 2-week notification. Otherwise, there is a rescheduling fee assessed by Wine Scholar Guild. Exam Closed-book exam of 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 60 minutes. You need a score of 75 or higher. Candidates scoring 85-90 pass with Honors. Candidates scoring 91-100 pass with Highest Honors. *Installment plans available. Group rates are available for parties of 5 or more.
