You will learn about each one of the appellations, varietals and all that the country has to offer in the wine kingdom including its rich history and tradition. The Spanish Wine Scholar study and certification program confers a post-nominal to wine professionals and enthusiasts who successfully pass the certification exam (Ex: John Smith, SWS). With a school network encompassing 30 countries on 5 continents, the SWS credential has true international recognition. Set yourself apart from your peers. Specialize in the wines of Spain! Format This is a hybrid course. We will meet over 20 hours of classroom instruction with tutored tasting taught by Yellymary Montalvo, SWS with Honors, Rioja Certified Educator and WSET Certified Educator. This is an intense but rewarding program. We recommend students to prepare before class and understand the time commitment. We will be here to guide you all the way but we need for you to also be committed to the program. Classes will be as following: October 15, October 16 & October 18 (Via Zoom & In Person). Your camera needs to be enabled. October 19, noon-6pm and we will go over tasting, review, and exam. Lunch pairing will be offered by Perry Culinary Services. We can accommodate to exam date and place with at least 2-week notification. Otherwise, there is a rescheduling fee assessed by Wine Scholar Guild. Exam Closed-book exam of 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 60 minutes. You need a score of 75 or higher. Candidates scoring 85-90 pass with Honors.
